| Larry Hunsucker was born in the western tip of North Carolina. Growing up in the mountains, he felt close to the natural world and has retained that sense of belonging all his life. He attended Berea College in Kentucky, where he began his fascination with photography. In the 1970s he worked as a photographer for the College’s Appalachian Museum, documenting traditional mountain crafts. After a career change, he worked in systems technology for many years while continuing to develop his photographic eye. Larry returned to photography full time in 2005 and moved back to his family home near Murphy NC in 2007. He has taught photography classes at the John C. Campbell Folk School. |

The images in Larry’s portfolio were made primarily in the southern Appalachians, the New Jersey Pine Barrens, Ohio and Hawaii. The images printed 12 “ x 18” and larger are limited editions of 250. Each is signed, dated and numbered. Small prints are open editions. Regardless of the size, Larry prints each one on zero-acid cotton rag paper using inks that will last decades. The limited editions are mounted to museum standards using archival materials.
